Monkey Tails


3 bananas
6 wooden ice cream sticks
1 cup orange juice concentrate or apple juice
Chocolate Sauce (see below)
1/2 cup nut chopped, crisp rice cereal, coconut, granola

Chocolate Sauce:
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Place chocolate chips and oil in a 1-cup glass measuring cup. Microwave at 100% power (700 watts) for 2 minutes. Remove from microwave oven and stir to blend chocolate and oil.

Peel bananas. Cut in half crosswise to make "short" bananas. Push a wooden stick into the cut end of each banana half. Dip banana in orange or apple juice. Place banana halves on a cookie sheet. Cover with waxed paper and place in the freezer for 1 to 2 hours or until bananas are frozen solid. (You won't need the rest of the orange juice or apple juice so go ahead and drink it.) While bananas are in the freezer, prepare chocolate sauce. Remove frozen bananas from freezer. Dip in sauce. If you wish, roll bananas in nuts, cereal, coconut or granola while sauce is still soft. Return bananas to the freezer for about 5 minutes to firm up the coating, then eat!
